Preparing for your Spray Tan
Be sure to do any shaving, waxing, nails, or skin treatments at least 24 hours before your appointment.
Exfoliate before your appointment, at least 12 hours prior is recommended. Focus on dry areas such as the elbows, knees, and ankles.
Stay hydrated! Drinking plenty of water will ensure the tan is fully absorbed into your skin, thus increasing the life of your tan.
Do not use any moisturizers, perfumes, deodorant, or makeup prior to your appointment, as these will act as a barrier to the solution.
During Your Appointment
Clear an area in your location for the technician to set up the portable (6 ft in height) spray tan booth. The location should have an outlet nearby. Be advised that the machine does make some noise so take this into consideration when selecting an adequate area.
You may choose to wear a bathing suit during your appointment if you desire tan lines (a dark color suit is recommended in this case), or wear nothing at all. We also have disposable bras, underwear, nose plugs, and eye protection if needed. *Men receiving a spray tan must remain in swimwear.
After Your Spray Tan
Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing for at least 5 hours after your tan. The solution washes out of fabrics however there is a chance of staining lighter colors. Bras and other tight clothing are not recommended.
Avoid contact with water for at least 4-8 hours after your appointment. If possible, do not shower until the next day to allow the tan to fully develop (unless you are opting for a rapid rinse solution). Keeping a set of old sheets that you do not mind getting stained is a popular choice among frequent spray tan clients.
After rinsing off the solution, be sure to thoroughly moisturize daily. Doing so will extend the life of your tan and allow it to fade naturally and evenly when it does wear off. Applying a tan extending lotion will also prolong your tan.
Avoid harsh soaps and scrubbing skin after the tan, this can prematurely fade the tan. Blot yourself dry with a towel after a shower instead of rubbing the skin dry. Exposure to chlorine may also affect the life of your tan.
